Olympic Games-Football
Olympic Games-Football
As you all know the Olympic Games take place in (mostly)London this Summer. What some of you may not know is that there a few football games taking place in the Millennium Stadium Cardiff, including Switzerland v Uruguay(I think). Is it worth me trying to get a ticket on the off chance that Granit Xhaka will be playing.Anyone know if the club will allow him to play if he is selected.
Re: Olympic Games-Football
He said at the todays Rheinische Post interview, that he wont miss the pre-season of Borussia, he said the CL-qualification is more important than Olympia! So I guess, he wont play for switzerland in the olympic games!
Re: Olympic Games-Football

Re: Olympic Games-Football
Many thanks for that discostu,I can read German much better than I can speak it!So I understood everything, and am very impressed with his attitude towards our club..I think he will be a huge favourite with the Nordkurve and if herr Hitzfeld is right we will have a huge star on our hands ,as long as we don't give him any penalties:).Once again thanks for your offer to help me out.Already looking forward to next season, even more than Euro2012.By the way any news on Luuk de Jong? They were talking about him and his brother on radio over here this afternoon. From what I can understand Steve McClaren is trying to guide him towards the English league.
Re: Olympic Games-Football
No, no news about him. Maybe you follow the threads here in the forum?
Re: Olympic Games-Football
Actually there's some confusion about Xhaka playing for his country at the Olympic Games.
The Swiss association has nominated him, but he wants to stay at Gladbach. The club of course wants him to absolve the training.
The Swiss coatch wonders, because he understood Xhaka that he's glad to join the olymic team. He also mentioned, that Xhaka told the gladbachfans and the media only what they wanted to hear (and he of course knows what Granit really wants).
Now everything is possible.
1. Xhaka stays at the Borussia-Park
2. Xhaka plays for Swiss
3. compromise: Xhaka joins the Swiss team right before the first match.
Edit: The contemporary BILD quotes Xhaka: "The issue is finished. I will not head the Swiss team." But who knows, it's BILD
Maybe there's a match with Spain playing. There you could see our new man Alvaro Dominguez. Today he's heading for the spanish team.

Re: Olympic Games-Football
Thanks Kellerfan.Checked out the Spain games and they are in Scotland and the north of England! It's going to take me all day to get to Norwich and back in August.Just going to have to try to get back to Moenchengladbach next season.
Re: Olympic Games-Football
That's right, I'll be there for a couple of matches early next year, deffo.oldparish hat geschrieben:Just going to have to try to get back to Moenchengladbach next season.
Re: Olympic Games-Football
It's official. Xhaka will not take part in the Olympic Games. Instead, he will play a friendly match against Croatia on 15th August. Well done Max Eberl.
Re: Olympic Games-Football
Brilliant news! Be able to see him in Norwich. And,I have a feeling, Luuk de Jong will be signing this week.Even reports over here are saying that.Totally agree Kellerfan, well done Max Eberl.
