Bielefeld and Bochum

Beitrag von oldparish » 01.02.2009 19:06

Just seen the results from today and I think when we get to May and look back, today could be the day we could say we were relegated.Hope I'm wrong but I've got this sinking feeling in my stomach.

If the distance to the other teams wich have a save position in the table is now going to be bigger and bigger, well then we´ll have a problem. We MUST make points! Otherwise you are right. Is it possible to stay in the 1st BL? I don´t know..

I'm already convinced that we are going down, anything else would be a huge bonus. The rubbish decisions made by the management before the season started are now coming back to haunt us.For example ,keeping Luhukay and his zweiteliga squad ,not getting Rangnick.going backwards with Meyer when we could have tried Ziege. He couldn't have done any worse. And why have we not gone for a sriker as it is obvious Friend is not Bundesliga class.

Absolutely true old parish. But hey, we are just the fans, who in de clubs' management will ever listen to them or even think of them???
Let's be honest, we've got a beautiful stadium, what else do we have???

Exactly,Krikke. And what assets we do have we seem intent on selling them, that is Baumjohann and Marin. At this moment in time I don't think Moenchengladbach as a Bundesliga club has any future. It makes me sad and angry but it's how I feel right now.As long as the 40,000 or so keep turning up every other week then the people in charge of the club don't really care and at the end of the day they can up and walk away. We,as fans could never do that.As the old saying goes "Einmal Borusse, immer Borusse"

Watching Werder and HSV (good game, too) last night it occured to me that this season we have taken 7,yes SEVEN,points from 12 off those two.Yet we can't beat Bielefeld and Bochum at home. That must tell you something about where we'll be next season. :(

You are absolutly right. We are not able to win against teams, who defend only! We are better against the clubs who want to be the leader in the match! That's why I'm looking forward to the matches against Bayern, Dortmund and Schalke, because we might be able to save ourselves.....maybe...

I'm going to see te game against Schalke next sunday.
I went also to:
- BMG-Werder Bremen: 3-2
- BMG-Bayern: 22
- BMG-HamburgerSV: 4-1
Lucky me...
Off course we beat Schalke04 because I will be there!!!!!! But then again I don't believe we will stay in the bundesliga...

Krikke if you keep up your "undefeated record" we have a chance. If we can win our home games and get something in Cottbus, the Bayer game is almost a home game as I believe Düsseldorf is closer to Moenchengladbach than Leverkusen. And we'll have about 15,000 there. We could end up in the relegation play-off.

Just arrived home. I told you we would win!!!!!
The way we played was a disaster but hey we've got the three points. That's the way you become Deutsche meister... unfortunatly it's a bit late for that. :(

I read that the players are paying the travel costs of 1500 fans to go to Cottbus on Wednesday.I think,Krikke, you should be one of them. Then you should stay on for the Bayer game in Düsseldorf and the final game against Dortmund. Then,if we stay up, you should do a lap of honour around the ground. And a free season ticket for next season

Well, the club should pay the travel costs for this one, just to show they are behind the fans as the fans are behind the team. It's a hell of a long way to go from Moenchengladbach to Cottbus on a Wednesday(the width of the country,is it not?)I'd be interested,as a foreigner ,to hear from anyone going as to how they are getting there, how long it will take, when will they get back home, that sort of thing. All I hope is that the trip will be worth it.A point will do.

Well, it depends on how you want to go there. I checked it out for ya. ;-)
If ya want to go by regular trains without payin' the maximum of 127,- € (this connection would take 8h 13m - including going by Inter City Express, Germany's fastest train) ya have to use the so called "Nahverkehr" (short-distance traffic/mass transit). Quite ridiculous that ya would have to leave Mönchengladbach main station at 8.21am in order to arrive in Cottbus at 6.58pm. That makes a funny total of 10h 37m of travelling. And it's quite expensive (80,- €).
Last time we had to head for Cottbus when playin' in the Bundesliga there was a chartered train taking the fans there. Guess, it was also running at least 6 hours although it didn't stop in between.
Due to the Bahn's end of business day at about 1am the trip back to MG would take another 14h 32m if going by regular trains.

All in all it's 676km from my home to the Stadion der Freundschaft. Excluding traffic jams and blocks it's a 6h13m trip as Google Maps tells me.

Quite a long journey for our supporters and definetively worth a 0-5 defeat. ;-)

So long.
With best regards,

Steve

Thanks Steve. That's one hell of a trek.I hope the players appreciate what the fans will be going through to get there and back. What was the DFL thinking of sending us all the way over there on Wednesday? Why couldn't Herthago there? We could have gone to Duesseldorf. :wut:

Not unlikely. since Leverkusen hasn´t managed to win a single League-match in Düsseldorf. (It probably cost them the particiaption in internatonal competitions, unless they win the DFB-Pokal.)
And both Bielefeld and Cottbus shouldn´t have a chance in their away matches against Dortmund and Stuttgart, who both need the points for reaching their targets.
