Generally, in the German system, what are the roles and responsibilities of the Director Of Football and the Coach? Who does what? Transfers, team choice etc etc

There's been a lot of discussion over here about that recently, mostly regarding Tottenham Hotspur.Sorry to say Ins I still can't shed any light on it, basically 'coz nobody else can and that includes former professionals like Ray Houghton and Ian Wright.

Sportdirektor: responsible for the whole squad, drawing deals and contracts with players and the coach, everything in close teamwork with the coach. The function of the role is to uphold and continue the club's strategy and personnel policy while the coaches and players are coming and going.
Trainer: responsible for training and selecting the squad and applying the tactics and so.

Of course, this is theory.
