DFL and the tv deal
On www.bundesliga.de I've just read that the pay tv channels will no longer have the monopoly rights to the Bundesliga. Can anybody expain what we can see for free on any weekend on free tv.Does this mean I can cancel my Setanta subscription?
Friday: 18.00 2. Bundesliga (3 games), 20.30 1. Bundesliga (1 game)
Saturday: 13.00 2. Bundesliga (1 game), 15.30 1. Bundesliga (5 games)
Sunday: 12.30 2. Bundesliga (5 games), 14.00 or 15.00 1. Bundesliga (2 games), 17.00 1. Bundesliga (1 game)
If the national team has got a game on wednesday (thats 8 times) then the friday game of the 1. Bundesliga is live on saturday evening (20.30) in free tv and the games on friday of the 2. Bundesliga are on 20.30
thats what I heard
Whats "Setanta" ? Is that like Premiere here in Germany?

Setanta is a sports network out of the Republic of Ireland. If you subscribe you get Setanta Sports 1& 2 plus a golf channel, Arsenal tv, LFC TV and a few others as well.Setanta sports 1&2 are the channels that show the BuLi live or as live. They also show the Scottish premier league ,the Irish league ,Rugby,Cricket,Horse racing and the premiership in England. The nearest to Premiere, though,is Sky.They are the ones responsible for all the money swilling around in the english game. Will the DFL and therefore the clubs get more money with this deal?Perhaps then then German football will be able to compete a little better with the English league and possibly in the future the Russian
I remember that Kirch thing.I hope that we (Borussia) will get something from it. What happened with Arena?I thought that they had the rights to the Bundesliga. Then all of a sudden it was back on Pemiere.Sky don't do the Konferenz thing. You have watch what they put on.Also you can't watch the game of your own choice,as I believe Premiere do.
I'm extremely jealous.I asked about getting Premiere in the UK and they told me you can only receive it (legally) with a German,Austrian or Swiss address.Oh,and bankrupt is the right word.I watched the Konferenz coverage in a bar at Cologne railway station when I was over for the Freiburg game. It's a great idea.I think sky won't do individual games (live) here because most people would only watch the "big four".Also it would be cheaper to stay at home than actually go to a game. You are not talking Bundesliga prices when you want to go to a Premier league game in England.

well, not quite true.the most expensive seat is cheaper than the cheapest Premier League ticket. Horrible, poor you.
the london clubs - arsenal, spurs, chelsea, west ham etc - are very expensive and also some of the (ahem) big clubs too.
but at blackburn rovers, tickets are 15 pounds per game for 5500 seats. ok, they are a bit more when man united, liverpool, chelsea and arsenal play, but also gladbach charge more for the games against Koln and Bayern?
and the 15pounds is for ALL other games- man city, everton, newcastle, aston villa etc etc
the reason? well london is a city of 9 million people, some of them quite well off. blackburn is a town of less than 100 000 with a lot of poverty and other teams close by.
so, hats off to rovers for trying to keep football in the reach of normal people..
(by the way, not just blackburn rovers. wigan athletic and bolton have done similar things)
